How do you feel about filling an empty corner in the kitchen? 7 practical ideas

1. Dining set

The most logical solution, especially if the kitchen is small, is to place the dining table and chairs in the corner. The size and shape depend on the layout, the room's shape, and the number of people. Often, a round table for 2-3 people is chosen for a corner location, as in the photo. If the kitchen is tiny and every centimeter counts, choose a square model, as it fits better into the corner and therefore takes up less space.

2. Tall chest of drawers

A beautiful and practical idea is to place a tall, bright chest of drawers in the corner. It can become the main accent in the interior or complement other colored elements. Inside, there will be several shelves for storage, which are convenient for keeping appliances, dishes, and table linens. There is also an additional surface on top. You can place decorations or plants on it, or, as shown in the photo, set up an entire tea-and-coffee station.

3. A cozy armchair

If there is a little space left in the corner by the window that is not enough for a chest of drawers, wardrobe, or other large furniture, place a comfortable, soft armchair there. This will give you an extra seat and a miniature relaxation area, especially if you add local lighting and decor. The advantage of this solution is that the armchair can be moved at any time, moved closer to the table when guests come, or even removed from the kitchen altogether.

4. Kitchen corner

A good solution is to organize a kitchen corner in the corner. It does not have to be a solid structure; you can put a separate, comfortable sofa that will also replace a couple of dining chairs. The photo shows just such an example. If the kitchen is small, you can choose a model with storage underneath. And if the room allows, a folding sofa for guests.

5. TV area

In a free corner of either an isolated kitchen or a kitchen combined with a living room, you can set up a TV area. Hang or place the TV, choose a suitable stand—you will also get additional storage space. Depending on the room's size and layout, you can put a sofa opposite the TV or watch TV from behind the table. The main thing is to position the screen so that it does not glare.

6. Shelving

A universal solution for small kitchens is to place a shelving unit in the corner. It can be compact and suspended or standard and floor-standing, as in the apartment in the photo. The shelves are suitable for storing beautiful tableware, indoor plants, decorations, and food supplies in identical containers. You can also choose a model with closed sections for greater practicality.

7. Workspace

An unusual option for studios and one-room apartments is to turn a free corner into a fully functional area. For example, you can extend the base of the furniture set or place a separate table in the same style, at a suitable height, to create a compact workspace. For example, in this project, the designer installed a thin tabletop between the window and the furniture set in the same color as the shelves and upper cabinets. Here you can work and have breakfast in the morning.
